Holiday apartment in Hålta: Nature, Church and Cultural Landscape

Hålta Nature Reserve has two hiking trails: the red trail is 1.5 kilometres long and the blue trail is 2.5 kilometres long. The nature reserve is located immediately south of Hålta Church on the road between Kungälv and Marstrand.

Nature

At the centre of Hålta Nature Reserve lies a larger ridge. To the north, it transitions into flatter meadows, pastures and marshland. The landscape includes large to very large oaks with abundant growth of mosses and lichens. Beech woodland that probably developed spontaneously grows on a northern slope, while pines stand on rocky ground.

Buses run regularly; a bus stop and a car park are located at Hålta Church. The nature reserve also includes a fire pit, an information board, public transport access, a car park, a picnic area and a trail.

Gullbringa Nature Reserve is also defined by its landscape. It lies entirely within the Gullbringa estate and forms a forest and cultural landscape with steep valley slopes and extensive beech woodland. Sixteen species listed on the Red List have been found on beech and oak trees in the area. Gullbringa estate is of considerable cultural and historical value.

Culture

Hålta Nature Reserve contains several remains from different periods: a stone cist, a suspected Stone Age settlement, two stone settings, an upright Iron Age stone and a Bronze Age burial mound.

Hålta Church was built at some point during the Middle Ages, between 1100 and 1250, in the Romanesque style. It was extended to the east in the mid-18th century; sections of the walls of the original church have been preserved in the western part of the nave. The furnishings include a 13th-century soapstone baptismal font, an early 17th-century pulpit, two medieval church bells, a third bell from the mid-20th century and an altarpiece made in 1672 by the sculptor Hans Swant.

Hålta churchyard is surrounded by a dry-laid grey stone wall. It contains mature planted deciduous trees, including lime trees and chestnut trees. The churchyard has entrances to the east, south and west, a network of gravel paths and grass-covered burial plots.

The Hålta annexgård, or vicarage outbuilding, is also part of the church surroundings. It was formerly the parish farm and the residence of the pastor's widow; its oldest parts date from the 18th century. The school buildings in Hålta's church surroundings have oldest sections dating from the late 19th century. They were expanded in several construction phases and adapted to the church environment.

Experiences

Gullbringa's pay-and-play golf course is open to everyone. Neither a golf proficiency certificate nor a golf ID is required. Hålta IK's public events include a Midsummer celebration that attracts up to 2,000 visitors.
