Sorsele vividly illustrates the connection between river landscapes and regional cultural heritage. Sorsele Church was built in seven months in 1859 and inaugurated in 1860. It stands on the banks of the Vindelälven and is considered one of the best-preserved Neoclassical churches in Upper Norrland. Much of its original interior has been preserved, including the altarpiece, altar rail, altar table, pulpit and gallery. The churchyard contains hand-hewn stone monuments as well as the memorial stone and memorial tree dedicated to Anders Fjellner.

Culture

The Inlandsbanemuseet is housed in the old goods shed of Sorsele railway station. There, visitors can learn how the Inlandsbanan railway was built. Another historical trace leads to the Sorsele Local Heritage Museum, where the original Älvkungen can be seen. The new Älvkungen is also part of the town's history; it was completed in 2004. The museum also has a café selling homemade bread.

The Benstampen is located approximately 3.5 kilometres from Sorsele. It is of cultural-historical value and is open to visitors. The Benstampen is an old mill and bone mill built at the end of the 19th century. Different forms of regional history therefore stand side by side in the surrounding area: sacred architecture, railway history, museum exhibits and a historic mill building.
