The Rackstad Museum houses the most extensive collection of works by the Rackstad artists' colony. The colony's first artists arrived in 1898. Its development was based on the collaboration between the artists and the traditional crafts established in Arvika.

Culture

Another historic site is Nytomta Minnesgård, one of the oldest farms in Taserud in Arvika. The farm commemorates the sculptor Olof (Ola) Eriksson and his family. Exhibitions can be seen there in the residential building, the weaving workshop, the shop (Boden), the small house and the Elis-E Palace. Nytomta Minnesgård can be visited year-round.

The history of industry is also part of the area's cultural identity. The Bruksmuseet at Glava Glasbruk conveys the importance of the site for Swedish window-glass production at the beginning of the 20th century. Glava Glasbruk borders the Glaskogen Nature Reserve. A cultural hiking trail runs through the former industrial area, showing where the various operational buildings stood and how extensive the operation was at the end of the 1930s.

Arvika is also home to the Arvika Vehicle Museum, housed in a restored former Thermia foundry dating from 1923. The collection includes vintage cars, historic motorcycles, mopeds, light motorcycles, horse-drawn carriages, sledges and bicycles. The museum is accessible to wheelchair users and people with visual and hearing impairments; there is an accessible toilet, an accessible parking space and a lift. At Klässbols Linneväveri weaving mill, visitors can follow the entire production process, from warping and weaving through inspection to the finished products.

Nature

The landscape is characterized by several protected areas. Byamossarna Nature Reserve protects a large mosaic of forests and wetlands. Rackstadskogen Nature Reserve has high biological values, primarily associated with nutrient-rich herb-rich spruce forest and old pine trees. Its wooded slopes offer views over Lake Racken, while paths through the forest form part of a larger trail network.

Bergs Klätt Nature Reserve contains around 15 Bronze Age graves and a stone cist from the Late Stone Age. A marked trail leads through old forest, hazel stands, archaeological remains and bird-rich shore meadows. A 1.2-kilometre section of the trail is suitable for wheelchair users; there is also an accessible toilet.
