Culture and History in Rimbo

Today’s stone Rimbo kyrka was built in the second half of the 15th century and has not changed its form since. It was built as a cohesive complex consisting of a church room, sacristy, porch and vaults. Those who prefer being outdoors can visit Näset, one of Rimbo’s three larger existing natural areas. Kundbysjön lies approximately two kilometres southeast of the centre of Rimbo. The lake is a bird lake and an important resting place for migratory birds. Sandbanken bathing spot is located in Rimbo on the northern shore of Lake Långsjön. It has approximately 35 metres of shoreline facing south and grassy areas; the bathing spot is surrounded by deciduous forest.

Routes for Cycling, Hiking and Horse Riding

Cycling, hiking and horse riding are permitted and welcome on the Banvallarna. The prepared sections Norrtälje–Rimbo and Rimbo–Rånäs follow the flat, forest-rich route of former railway embankments. These routes are particularly appealing to travellers who want to make their days active without committing to just one mode of transport.

The unprepared section of the Banvallarna from Rimbo to Hallstavik via Edsbro and Skebobruk is usable in parts. Norrtälje Municipality does not carry out inspections, maintenance work or repairs there. This difference from the prepared sections should be taken into account in your own day planning. In winter, when there is sufficient snow, the illuminated running track at Västertorpsskogen is prepared as a cross-country ski trail.
