Svalöv combines fertile plains in the south with the distinctive landscape of Söderåsen in the north. There you will find beech forests, pronounced valleys and ravines. Söderåsen is known for its special geology, flora and numerous beech forests. Söderåsen National Park also shapes this landscape: it covers 1,625 hectares, 58 percent of which lie in Svalöv Municipality.

Nature

One of the impressive sights is Lake Odensjön. The lake is 19 metres deep and surrounded by 30-metre-high steep slopes. There is a shelter and a floating jetty on the shore; however, Odensjön is not designated as an official bathing area.

A distinct landscape can be found at Jällabjär. Jällabjär is an extinct volcano whose basalt forms nutrient-rich soil as it weathers. Two marked circular trails, each 3 kilometres long, lead through beech forest and grazed juniper heathland. At the southern entrance there is a shelter with a fire pit and a toilet.

Protected wetland and pasture landscapes are also part of the municipality's character. The Traneröds mosse, Grindhus and Lilla Klåveröd nature reserve lies partly within Svalöv Municipality and is protected both as a nature reserve and as a Natura 2000 site. Traneröds mosse is one of the few raised bogs in western Skåne that have escaped drainage, peat extraction and cultivation. A low-barrier boardwalk leads to Traneröds mosse and measures 400 metres in total for the outward and return journey.

The Svenstorp-Bolshus fälad nature reserve comprises varied pastureland, wet meadows and smaller woodland areas. Almost 300 species have been recorded in the area. It can be explored via small roads and paths or by walking freely; there are also rest areas and a small car park.

Trails and activities

The different landscapes are accessible via several marked routes. The Ås till Ås Trail runs for about 25 kilometres through Svalöv Municipality. North of the Klåveröd nature reserve there is also a 5.3-kilometre mountain bike loop. Fishing is possible at Klåverödsdammen, while there are several natural climbing walls near Snuvestuan in the Klåveröd area.

The southern entrance to Söderåsen National Park is located in Röstånga, by the tourist information office. The tourist information office rents out bicycles there. Svalöv Municipality also has small cafés and restaurants for visitors.

Culture and history

Svalöv can also be explored through art and crafts. Svalöv Sculpture Park is located by Lake Svalövssjön. A sculpture trail also runs through Svalöv, allowing you to walk from the lake in the north to Felestad in the south.

At Skånelin, courses and activities focused on flax processing are on the programme. On certain days, Skånelin is open to the public, allowing visitors to learn about the processing of flax. The Svalöv Fire Brigade Museum displays, among other things, a 1929 Ford fire engine, a horse-drawn vehicle and firefighting equipment.

Historical places and personalities are also part of the cultural surroundings. Knutstorp is the birthplace of the astronomer Tycho Brahe. During track days at Knutstorp Circuit, visitors can drive their own cars on the racetrack. Stenestad Church was built during the Romanesque period. Treudden near Magleröd is a very rare example in Skåne of an Iron Age grave type.

Stenestad also preserves a village landscape that is representative of the small church villages of the intermediate and forest regions and that emerged in the 19th century. Thus, nature reserves, trails, local craft traditions, technological history and older settlement landscapes stand side by side within the same municipality.
