Around Lund, trails through wetlands and forests meet a city with significant churches, museums, gardens and science experiences. Nature and Activities

In the Nöbbelövs mosse wetland, an approximately 3 km circular trail leads around the large pasture and back to Gunnesbogården. Several relatively rare bird species breed there, including garganey and shovelers. The Höjeådalen nature area between Värpinge and Sankt Lars also combines winding paths, hilly pastures, bird-rich ponds and the new Klimatleken play landscape. Höjeådalen is easiest to reach from Värpinge, Klostergården or Sankt Larsparken.

Rinnebäcksravinen lies near Värpinge in southwestern Lund and is easily accessible by bicycle or bus. Hardebergaspåret follows a former railway line and is now a walking and cycling path between Lund and Södra Sandby. For the most part, it is laid out as a wide, paved, two-lane cycle path and has bicycle pumps. Hälsans stig in Lund also runs through the urban area as a 12 km circular route, including through Stadsparken, along the Höje å, through Lundagård, and past the cathedral and Botanical Garden. The Skrylle nature reserve covers more than 500 hectares and was established both as a recreational area and to protect plants and animals. There is a 1.2 km wheelchair-accessible trail there. With a little luck, visitors to the forests of Skrylle can spot roe deer, fallow deer, wild boar, woodpeckers, common buzzards and red kites. The former Billebjer quarry is filled with water and is frequently used for swimming. The area combines species-rich heaths, lush deciduous forest and archaeological remains; in clear weather, the summit offers views across the plain between Malmö and Lund.

East of Lund lies Dalby Söderskog National Park, which is accessible by car, public transport or bicycle. In the Lund area, it is presented as Sweden's smallest national park. In spring, flowers appear there; in summer, green foliage and intense birdsong take over.

Culture and Science

Dalby kyrka is considered the oldest surviving stone church in the Nordic region. It was built as a cathedral and bishop's church in connection with a new Danish diocesan division in 1059/1060. In Lund itself, Kulturen is a cultural history museum with historic houses from different periods, several exhibitions and programs for different age groups. Lund Cathedral, around 900 years old, is open daily and offers guided tours.

Skissernas Museum has a collection of sketches and preparatory works for public art that is described as the world's largest. Lunds konsthall presents new exhibitions every year featuring regional and international artists. Established as well as younger artists are represented; the exhibitions are accompanied by guided tours, lectures and creative workshops.

Vattenhallen Science Center offers experiences and experiments related to science and research. It has a close connection to Lund University and the research community immediately next door. Lund city center is easily accessible by bus and train; parking is available within a reasonable distance for those arriving by car.
