Holiday apartment in Höör: Hiking, culture and nature in Skåne

Höör offers cultural history, marked trails, forest landscapes and nature reserves. Kulturhuset Anders is located in the centre of Höör and is a venue for concerts, theatre, dance, art exhibitions and cinema. The Höörs sommaropera and Kulturkvartersdagen also take place there every year. The Höörs konsthall at Kulturhuset Anders organises around ten exhibitions per year.

Culture and history

Höörs skolmuseum is housed in a building constructed from fieldstone in the 1830s, which was Höör’s first school. The Fogdaröds museum provides an insight into the history of Fogdaröd through important dates, beginning in 1907. It is open to the public for individual visitors and groups.

Höörs kyrka was built by Mårten Stenmästare in the second half of the 12th century. Like Lund Cathedral, it was built from stone from Höörs stenskog. The apse, chancel and nave of the medieval church have been preserved. The original baptismal font bears the runic inscription “Martin mik giarde”.

Other cultural sites include Berggrenska gården, a Scanian farmhouse from the 19th century in the centre of Höör. The museum there presents art exhibitions; its own exhibitions are also possible. Minnenas museum is designed as a family museum and displays toys, household items, cars and motorcycles.

Trails and activities

The illuminated 750-metre-long fitness trail Backaslingan is located by Villa Backa in Höör. In the north, it connects to the walking and cycling path by the Kvarnbäcks boule courts, and in the south to Hälsans stig and the Skåneleden. Brottets bana between Höörs Mölla and Stanstorps stenbrott in Stenskogen features an approximately three-kilometre-long hiking trail with an easy to moderate level of difficulty. Information boards provide details about the history of the surrounding area at selected points.

Since the 12th century, sandstone has been quarried in Stenskogen for the production of building stones and millstones. Another marked route is the five-kilometre-long Fogdarödsslingan in Fogdarödsskogen, which is suitable for walking and running. Frostavallen offers five hiking loops of varying lengths and difficulty levels.

The 16-kilometre-long Pilgrimsleden begins at Frihetens kapell by Stiftsgården Åkersberg in Höör. The Skåneleden sections SL2 and SL3 also run in parallel through the centre of Höör, and both pass the railway station. Hjärtslingan is marked as an 11.11-kilometre loop and runs through deciduous and coniferous forest, along babbling streams and past ponds. Along the way, it passes Onsvalakällan, where there is a shelter and a toilet.

Nature and cycling

Nearby is the Västra Bosjöklosterhalvön nature reserve, with a 3.7-kilometre hiking loop that partly runs along Västra Ringsjön. There are a total of 18 nature reserves in Höör Municipality. Sport anglers can choose from six bodies of water and around twenty fish species in Höör Municipality.

Cycling opportunities are also available in Höör Municipality, including mountain bike trails, former railway embankments and the long-distance cycling route Sverigeleden. Nearby, the Orup mountain bike area offers four routes ranging from 800 metres to 6.4 kilometres in length.

Getting there and practical points of contact

Öresundståg and Pågatåg trains stop at Höör railway station, with various destinations in Skåne and Småland. There are also direct train connections to and from Copenhagen. Bus route 441 runs from Höör railway station via Frostavallen to Skånes Djurpark.
