Holiday apartment in Hallsberg: Culture, Railways and Nature

Hallsberg railway station is protected as a historic building. The present-day brick building dates from 1886. Connections to Örebro, Motala and Mjölby turned the station into a railway junction.

Culture

Bergööska House was built at the end of the 19th century on behalf of the merchant Adolf Bergöö and designed by Ferdinand Boberg. In the Bergöövåningen, the house includes a ballroom with a wall painting by Carl Larsson and art by Karin Larsson. Hallsberg Art Gallery is also located in Bergööska House. From 1 September to mid-May, guided tours are offered there in autumn, winter and spring.

Art exhibitions are held at Hallsberg Art Gallery from September to May. In summer, the municipality organises an annual summer exhibition. Kulturslingan is another combination of local history and a walk: the cultural trail is around 3 kilometres long and leads to approximately 20 points of interest.

Railways

The railway exhibition at Magasinet displays objects and historic railway uniforms. It provides information about railway workers, includes a film and offers children an operable model train. The model railway in Bergöökvarteret depicts, among other things, Hallsberg's railway facilities and is located on the second floor of the Magasinet building. In addition to the railway exhibition, Magasinet also has a café.

Nature

Ekoparken is a large ecological park in the Hallsberg locality. The park includes walking paths and a playground. In the Östra dammen area, a restricted-access zone is in effect from 1 April to 31 July to protect nesting birds.

In the centre of Hallsberg lies Stocksätterskogen, with paths through deciduous woodland. The area is used for recreation and consists of numerous deciduous tree species that provide a habitat for many species. Hälsans Stig runs partly through Ekoparken and is 4 kilometres long in total. There is no designated start or end point for this trail.

Activities

Near Ekoparken, directly behind the ice rink, lies Hinderbanan in Hallsberg. There, strength, fitness and mobility can be trained through jumping, crawling and climbing. Alléhallen has an oval outdoor pool approximately 10 metres long, which is open in summer. There is also a slide and water-splashing features for the youngest visitors.
