Vallsta combines the history of the Hälsingland farmhouses at Gästgivars with cross-country skiing in Hosarbo. World Heritage and painting at Gästgivars

In 2012, Gästgivars was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List along with six other Hälsingland farmhouses. Gästgivars is home to one of four visitor centres for the Hälsingland Farmhouses World Heritage Site, where visitors can get help planning their experience of the farmhouses. The grand reception house at Gästgivars was decorated by the influential painter Jonas Wallström. He developed a stencilling technique that spread to other parts of Sweden. Cross-country ski trails in Hosarbo

There are three cross-country ski trails at Hosarbo in Vallsta, measuring 2.5, 5 and 12 kilometres. The different trail lengths make it easy to plan a route based on your preferred distance. There is also a connecting trail between Orfa and the long Hosarbo trail. Trail conditions depend on the season; check the latest conditions before setting out to ski.

Cycling around Orbaden and Vallsta

A cycling tour around the villages of Orbaden and Vallsta follows the Ljusnan River for several kilometres. Music and events in Hälsingland

Orbadenstämman is an annual gathering of musicians in Hälsingland. The programme includes folk music, concerts, children’s performances, courses and dancing, as well as food and drink experiences. The gathering also includes a free church-boat concert on Orbaden beach, with no advance booking required. As the annual programme may vary, check whether the concert is taking place during your trip.

Local produce

As of April 26, 2023, Östigården Vallsta made and sold tunnbröd and ostkaka. The tunnbröd was baked with flour from its own grain. If you are specifically looking for these products, ask in advance about current production and sales.
