Veľké Kostoľany: Church, Pilgrimage and Landscape

Veľké Kostoľany lies in the valley of the Výtok stream and on the right-bank terrace of the Dudváh. The Chtelnička stream flows through the Kostolianska Valley. The Church of Saint Vitus is an important architectural monument from the late 12th century. It has a Classicist main altar dating from 1815 with a painting of Saint Vitus. Two semicircular side chapels were added to the church in 1736.

The parish chapel is a Baroque chapel built from fired bricks in 1768. The Eucharist is kept in the parish chapel for public veneration and to strengthen the faithful. Every year, on the Sunday around 8 September, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a pilgrimage takes place at the Hájska Chapel with the participation of believers from the surrounding villages.

The Stations of the Cross run along both sides of the cemetery path leading to the Church of Saint Vitus. The Lourdes Grotto is located at the entrance to the cemetery. It was consecrated on 15 August 1954. For cultural and religious interests, different periods, architectural forms and occasions can be distinguished here.

In the same year, the multifunctional sports field was accessible to the general public in the afternoons through free rental arranged with the site manager. The athletics track was freely accessible to the general public in 2024.
