History

Remains of a cult structure dating from the Late Bronze Age have been found in Trebatice. These include fragments of a building gable decorated with plastic ornamentation. Settlement finds from the 2nd and 3rd centuries attest to settlement in Trebatice during the Great Moravian period.

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Stephen the King is a Neoclassical church dating from 1851. Its main altar and pulpit date from the time the church was built. The Chapel of St. Stephen the King in the cemetery is one of Trebatice’s small sacred monuments.

For chronological orientation, you can consider the archaeological and sacred themes separately; each offers its own approach to the history of the village.

Local Life and Cuisine

The inhabitants of Trebatice were mentioned as cabbage growers in 1753 and therefore received the local nickname „kapustári“. The connection with cabbage is particularly evident at the Kapustové hody 2023 festival, where a competition organized by the microregion was held for cooking Kapustnica.

Local tradition and the events calendar can be viewed here through different focal points: one through a traditional name for the inhabitants, and the other through a specific competition centered on a regionally characteristic dish.

Sports and Events

Areál zdravia is Trebatice’s multipurpose sports and community centre and has been in use since 2007. Športové centrum Trebatice is a visitor-oriented sports facility with online reservations at Piešťanská 555/12, 922 10 Trebatice. It is open Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 21:00 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 07:00 to 20:00.

Trebatice’s go-kart track was built on the site of a former brickworks, which was later used as a municipal landfill. The track offers go-kart rentals. It also hosts official kart races of the MSR, Open Cup and Moravský pohár.

Hody Trebatice combines musical performances with traditional fairground rides, refreshment stalls and craft demonstrations. One edition took place on 15 and 16 August 2025 at AMK; another edition is scheduled for 2026. The XIV edition of Memoriál Petra Minárecha is listed as a separate event date in Trebatice.

The sports and events offering therefore brings together fixed opening hours, online reservations, go-kart rentals, official races and a seasonally announced festival programme. The offerings thus differ significantly in their timing and in the type of activity involved.
