Nature

Activities

Several cross-border routes run through Poloniny National Park. The Veľká Ravka–Kremenec–Nová Sedlica route is a cross-border route in the national park. The Wetlina–Riaba skala–Runina route was established in 2013 and also crosses the Poloniny National Park.

For cyclists, the Driečna–Puławy route runs through Medzilaborce and continues towards Poland. The seasonal bicycle bus programme in the Prešov Region is intended to serve up to eight destinations on 17 routes. For winter sports, Ski Drienica has 5 km of groomed cross-country ski trails.

Culture

The Hanušovce nad Topľou Archaeopark presents five dwellings from five periods of prehistory and the early Middle Ages. During the archaeology festivals, craft activities take place there using kilns for ceramics, glass, bread, and bronze.

The Ľubovňa Open-Air Museum includes a wooden Greek Catholic church dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and built in 1833. Ľubovňa Castle offers exhibitions, a visit to the palace of the Ľubomírsky family, and the opportunity to climb the tower.

The Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art in Medzilaborce was officially founded in 1991 by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. It was scheduled to reopen its renovated exhibitions on 4 September 2026.

The Dubník mines are considered a unique site worldwide, home to the oldest opal mines. From 1 October to 31 March, the Opal Mines offer only one regular tour because of the bats' hibernation; this tour does not enter the hibernation sites.

Visitor information

Spišský hrad Castle can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes from the car park below the castle and in about one hour on foot from Spišské Podhradie.

A visit to the Solivar museum complex takes about 90 minutes and is limited to a maximum of 45 visitors per admission.

The spa town of Bardejov has a covered colonnade with eight different mineral healing springs. The spa grounds include hiking trails; its facilities also include an open-air museum of folk architecture.
