Discover Krušovce: Holiday Apartment Between Manor House and Parks
Krušovce combines architectural history, parkland, transport routes and local customs. Between a Neoclassical manor house, a Romanesque parish church and parks with varied designs, the townscape offers many tangible points of reference for planning a trip. Anyone considering a holiday apartment in Krušovce can combine historical discoveries, outdoor activities and regional events.
Culture
The history of the town is centred around Kaštieľ Krušovce, a two-storey Neoclassical manor house. Count František Beréni had it built on older foundations in 1830; in 1906, the building was remodelled into its present form. This means that the same building preserves two clearly distinct dates: its construction in the early 19th century and its later remodelling at the beginning of the 20th century.
Another historic building is the Church of Narodenia Panny Márie. It was built around 1240 in the Romanesque style, and its earliest written record dates from 1285. Remains of the former fortifications have also been preserved at the church, indicating the building's defensive character. Today, Narodenia Panny Márie serves as the parish church of the local parish.
The local cultural history also includes a distinctive craft tradition: the production of crocheted blankets made from white or coloured yarn was characteristic of Krušovce. Alongside the architectural heritage, this detail points to a local tradition connected with the town and its everyday culture.
Parks
The historic park in Krušovce covers 6.23 hectares and is listed as a national cultural monument under registration number 11248/1-7. It includes a recreation area with a multi-purpose court, a running track and a long-jump facility. Thus, within the same part of the town, the park's documented historic significance stands alongside facilities for physical activity.
Park pri kaštieli forms a harmonious landscape ensemble together with Kaštieľ Krušovce and covers 6.50 hectares. Its development dates back to a Baroque French-style park laid out in the mid-18th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, it was extended into an English landscape park.
A path divides Park pri kaštieli into two large areas. The southwest is dominated by exotic woody plants among smaller meadow areas. The northeast is characterised by native woody plants and two larger meadow areas. The park therefore has a clearly defined layout in which different stands of woody plants face open meadow spaces.
Routes and Transport
Krušovce is connected to Road I/64, which serves as the municipality's main north–south transport route. The single-track, partly electrified railway line No. 140 also runs through the town. It leads from Nové Zámky via Šurany, Nitra, Lužianky and Topoľčany to Prievidza, has a track gauge of 1,435 millimetres and is 113 kilometres long.
The cadastral area is also part of the town's described recreational space: it offers opportunities for hikes several kilometres long. Thus, in addition to the landscaped parks, the local area includes longer routes within the cadastral territory.
Events
The local events calendar is documented by specific dates. On 30 April 2025, a decorated maypole was erected in front of the cultural centre in Krušovce; the event was associated with this traditional custom. In addition, the Hodové slávnosti festival took place in Krušovce on 12 and 13 September 2020.
