Holiday apartment in Tešedíkovo: Churches, Calvaries and Protected Lakes
Tešedíkovo combines distinctive traces of history and faith with lakes and nature-oriented activities. Sacred architecture, places of remembrance and the water come together to create a multifaceted local landscape that places cultural discoveries alongside peaceful moments by the lake.
Culture
The Church of St. John the Baptist is at the heart of the local sacred architecture. It was built between 1816 and 1820 and consecrated in 1820. The single-nave building has a polygonal presbytery end, an attached sacristy and an integrated tower. The organ is also part of the church’s history: it dates from 1824 and was made by Matej Vonberger.
The Tešedíkovo Calvary complex includes historic structures from the 19th century; it was built between 1869 and 1876. The Golgotha–Calvary stands at the end of the Stations of the Cross in front of the chapel. Another prominent place of remembrance is the monument to the Battle of Tešedíkovo. The obelisk was erected in 1869 by the Home Guard Association of Pressburg County in memory of fallen Home Guard members and stands next to the cemetery.
On the main square of Tešedíkovo, a monument to the victims of the First World War stands in a well-maintained setting. The former Jewish cemetery is also present in the local landscape: some of its 19th- and 20th-century gravestones have been placed in a park at the former cemetery site. A bell tower also stands out on Nový rad Street. The tall iron structure is made of railway tracks and carries a bell at its top. Every year on 15 March, Tešedíkovo hosts regional commemorative celebrations marking the beginning of the 1848–1849 revolution and struggle for independence in Hungary.
Nature
The lakes give the landscape of Tešedíkovo a distinctive character. Čierne Lake is one of two state-protected lakes in the cadastral territory of Tešedíkovo. Téglások Lake lies on the northern edge of the cadastral territory. The two bodies of water therefore already differ in their location within the village and its surrounding territory.
Carp fishing with a float, boilies or a feeder is possible at Téglások Lake. The lake is also regarded as a place for pleasant walks. The water surface, fishing opportunities and walking paths stand here as distinct facets of the same landscape area.
Transport connections
Both bus and rail connections are listed for local transport. Public bus services include the Šaľa–Neded–Kolárovo and Šaľa–Trstice routes. The Šaľa–Neded railway line also runs through the cadastral territory of Tešedíkovo, where there is a railway station.
