The history of the town thus extends across many successive eras. Santovka’s mineral water is also associated with a tradition dating back more than 500 years. Alongside the archaeological traces, the long-established heritage surrounding the water is therefore also part of the town’s historical character.

Culture

The Filagória in Santovka is a wooden pavilion associated with the town’s mineral water and spa history. It was built as an exhibition pavilion for mineral water at the 1885 Budapest Exhibition. In 1993, the Filagória was added to the list of protected monuments and is now a destination for walks by locals and holidaymakers. It brings architectural form, mineral water and spa history together at a named location, without the individual historical connections losing their distinctiveness.

Another important building is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Santovka. It is a Baroque church dating from 1755, is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose. It is therefore not only part of the town’s history, but also a still-used part of Santovka’s cultural life.
