Orava Castle stands in Oravský Podzámok on a rock above the Orava River. Originally built in the Romanesque and Gothic styles, it was later remodelled in the Renaissance and Neo-Gothic styles.

Culture
Advance reservations are required for tours of Kaštieľ Kubínyi, which include the Renaissance and Baroque sections and last around 40 minutes. The ticket office for Orava Castle is located below the castle rock; admission tickets cannot be purchased on the castle grounds.
The Múzeum šľachtických kočiarov a saní displays 21 exhibits in their original or restored condition. The wooden church in Leštiny is an articled Protestant church dating from 1688 and has a wooden bell tower. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008.
The Oravská galéria is located in the 17th-century Župný dom on Hviezdoslavovo námestie. It presents five permanent exhibitions covering old art from the 15th to the 19th century, icons, Slovak art of the 20th century, woodcarving from the Orava region and traditional folk art.
The Čaplovičova knižnica has a collection of books dating from the 14th to the 21st century and also displays map collections, museum objects, manuscripts and incunabula. Florinov dom preserves the memorial room of Thea Herkeľ Florin with its original furnishings, personal items and biographical visual and textual materials.
Kaštieľ Kubínyi dates from the 17th century and was extensively remodelled in the Baroque style in 1750. The Pamätný dom Martina Kukučína features period-furnished rooms, editions of the writer’s literary works and examples of their film adaptations.
Tupá skala is home to a hillfort built and used by the Lusatian culture, as well as a cremation burial ground. The cheese-making demonstration by Syrex Zázrivá allows visitors to pull their own cheese strings called “vojky” and weave their own Korbáčiky.
Nature
The educational trail in Zázrivá has eight information boards, is 2 km long and can also be completed by bicycle. Párnické jazerá consists of 21 lakes of varying sizes that formed after gravel extraction in the floodplain of the Orava River.
Ostrá skala and Tupá skala have been designated as a protected area since 1972, covering 22.30 ha and classified under the fourth level of protection.
Getting around
The Dolný Kubín–Oravský Podzámok–Leštiny cycling loop starts and ends in Dolný Kubín. It runs along gravel and asphalt paths. The Kubínska Hoľa zipline is 1,234 metres long.
The Plavba plťou rafting trip runs from Horná Lehota below Orava Castle to Oravský Podzámok. It includes a one-hour raft trip with expert commentary on the history of rafting in the Orava region.
Winter and water
SKI PARK Kubínska hoľa has 14 km of downhill runs and 10 km of cross-country ski trails. It also has nine downhill runs of all difficulty levels, as well as a freeride zone and a snow park. The access road to Kubínska hoľa is paved and maintained so that snow chains are not required.
Aquarelax Dolný Kubín includes a water world with various water attractions; its summer outdoor area includes a children’s pool, sports courts, a climbing wall and a rope park.
