Pezinok: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Malokarpatská vínna cesta combines wine, landscapes, history and gastronomy in an area encompassing Svätý Jur, Pezinok and Modra. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Pezinok can consider the town as a travel destination.

Landscape

The Malé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area extends partly across the Pezinok District. The western part of the Pezinok District lies in the Pezinské Karpaty section of the Little Carpathians.

Pezinská Baba is one of Slovakia’s best-known winter ski resorts. The Šúr reserve contains the only original alder-forest habitat of this type in Central Europe.

Wine and history

The Malokarpatské Museum in Pezinok offers interactive wine tastings and presents the history of viticulture in the Little Carpathians. The viticulture educational trail in Pezinok provides information about local wine, its history and its production. Wine tastings are offered in Pezinok during the Vinobranie grape harvest festival.

Culture

Šimák Castle in Pezinok is surrounded by a park. In Modra, Slovenská ľudová majolika offers a guided tour and a workshop at the potter’s wheel. Modra’s visitor attractions also include the Ignác Bizmayer Gallery, dedicated to the renowned Slovak ceramic artist Ignác Bizmayer.

Svätý Jur was granted the status of an urban heritage reserve in 1990. The remains of the Neštich hillfort from the period of Great Moravia have been preserved there. The Svätojurský educational trail consists of an urban circular route and a nature trail.

Budmerický kaštieľ is surrounded by an impressive English park. The castle has a tall tower with a viewing gallery and a clock in the gable. Červený Kameň Castle served as a family residence for almost four hundred years.

Trails and activities

The Harmónia recreation area near Modra is connected to Piesok and crossed by hiking and cycling trails. The Veľká Homoľa lookout tower is open year-round and can be entered free of charge.

The natural swimming pool near Zochova chata is located in Modra–Piesok. The grounds of Zochova chata include a bike-park pump track.

The fourth day of the Cyril and Methodius Route leads from Svätý Jur via Pezinok to Modra and is more than 22 kilometres long. The fifth day of this route leads from Modra via Zochova chata to Červený Kameň Castle.
