Culture and History
Most cestný v Zelenom is a protected technical cultural monument and is considered the third-oldest surviving bridge of its kind in Slovakia. Zelené is also home to an evangelical church built in 1835, featuring an altar, a pulpit, four chandeliers, and an organ with six stops.
The evangelical church in Poltár dates from 1791. Its walls contain built-in architectural elements from the 15th century. The evangelical church in České Brezovo was consecrated by Bishop Samuel Zoch on 15 October 1922 and built according to a design by M.M. Harminc.
Katarínska Huta and Poltár are home to permanent glass art exhibitions associated with the region of Novohrad’s almost 600-year glassmaking history. In Poltár District, the pottery tradition in Hrnčiarske Zalužany is represented by the Šamotka cooperative and private craftsmen.
