Folgosa combines rural paths, small cultural discoveries and varied opportunities for active days on holiday. Several routes lead through the freguesia, making different travel plans possible: short circular trails, longer stretches through woodland and agricultural areas, or a walk with historical points of interest. There are also chapels, a church with a striking azulejo façade and the Jardim do Olheiro as a stopping point in the village.

Hiking routes with different highlights

Those wishing to get to know Folgosa on foot can choose between several paths. The PR2 – Caminhos Rurais de Folgosa is 3.1 km long and follows rural paths through the freguesia. Vila Paulista, the former parish residence in Folgosa, lies along this route. The circular trail therefore combines scenery with a historic site without requiring you to commit to a long day hike.

The PR3 – Rota Produtos da Terra is 4.6 km long and passes through a fertile area suitable for agriculture and livestock farming. The route begins at the Terreiro of the Capela de Santo Ovídio and also includes a visit to the Sweet Moranguinho farm. This combination of path, chapel and agricultural connections gives the tour a distinct local character.

For a longer route, the 6.1 km linear PR4 – Lugares no Alto de Folgosa e S. Pedro Fins is available. It runs through the two freguesias of Folgosa and São Pedro Fins, following woodland paths and the so-called Estrada Real. The PR1-Vilar de Luz circular trail is 5.5 km long, uses agricultural and forestry paths and passes through areas with newly planted native flora. It also runs alongside the Ribeira da Junqueira. Take the different lengths into account when planning your day and choose the route according to the type of landscape you wish to experience.

Green spaces, a cycle path and a break in the village

The Jardim do Olheiro is a stopping point in Folgosa. It has a children's playground, some outdoor fitness equipment and a landscaped lawn with native shrubs and trees. For families, this place can be a welcome addition to a hike, while the different areas also allow for a more peaceful time outdoors.

Another option is the Aeródromo Municipal de Vilar de Luz. A closed cycle path approximately 4.2 km long runs around the airfield; the aerodrome also has a flight school. Those wishing to include a bicycle ride alongside their hikes will find a separate activity for their travel itinerary here.

Chapels, church and local traditions

The cultural side of Folgosa includes the Igreja de São Salvador de Folgosa. Its azulejo-clad façade is flanked by two bell towers and defines the appearance of the church. At the Capela de S. Frutuoso - Folgosa, the gilded woodcarvings and religious artwork are of particular interest. The chapel was built over an older chapel.

Santa Cristina and Santo Ovídio are celebrated at the Capela de Santa Cristina. The festival takes place on the first Sunday in September. The cult of Santa Cristina is considered to be of medieval origin. The Festival Cultural de Folgosa is regarded as a tradition in the freguesia. The 10º Festival Cultural de Folgosa, held in Folgosa in 2025, also featured the 40º Festival de Folclore Folgosa, organised by the Rancho Regional de São Salvador de Folgosa.
