Coast, dunes and trails

The beaches, dunes and pine forests of Mrzezyno are part of the Trzebiatów–Kołobrzeg coastal strip, which is protected under Natura 2000. West of the town, in the surrounding area, lies the “Nadmorski Bór Bażynowy” nature reserve, characterised by wind-shaped landforms and black crowberry. These varied landscape features give this stretch of coast its distinctive character.

Coastal cycle routes connect Mrzezyno with neighbouring places. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are listed as water sports available at the beaches. Nearby, the Rega is a tourist route for canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding. Depending on your interests, you can include the beach and coast, a cycling tour or water activities in your holiday plans.

Harbour and fish

Mrzezyno harbour is intended for seagoing yachts and fishing boats; excursion boats can also dock there. Fishing trips for cod are offered on excursion boats departing from Mrzezyno. At the landing stage, flounder and turbot are also sold directly from fishing boats. Smokehouses and fish fryers serve freshly prepared fish dishes. The town’s connection with the sea is evident both in the harbour and on the plate.

If you would like to discover local cuisine, you can also visit the restaurant in the restored Chata Rybaka, where guests can sample local specialities. The building is one of the oldest surviving houses in the town. It was probably built towards the end of the 18th century and remodelled in the 1920s.

Church and places of remembrance

The Church of St Peter and St Paul was built between 1900 and 1912. The presbytery features glass mosaics by Prof. Henryk Burzec. The stained-glass windows, with “sea flower” motifs, were made by Maria Powalisz-Bardońska of Poznań. If you are interested in a place’s craftsmanship, you will find here a distinctive combination of glass art and maritime motifs.

A monument commemorates the first post-war Polish ceremony of the “Wedding to the Sea”, held in Mrzezyno on 17 March 1945. The Trzebiatów municipality holds annual commemorations at the monument, including a historical re-enactment. Another monument, “Tym, którzy nie powrócili z morza” (“To Those Who Did Not Return from the Sea”), honours fishermen who lost their lives at sea: alongside the main monument, smaller blocks display fishing boat numbers and the fishermen’s names.

Mrzezyno has a promenade known as the “promenadę brwinowską”.
