History and Culture

Dobrzyki was founded in 1287; the foundation was confirmed in 1304.

About 2 km northwest of Dobrzyki and southwest of Lake Ewingi lies a hillfort site known as Grodzisko. For visitors interested in traces of early settlements, Grodzisko is therefore a specific historical point of reference.

Dobrzyki has a long settlement history; traces of two Old Prussian hillforts have been found north and northeast of the village.

Parts of Zalewo Municipality lie within the Iława Lake District Landscape Park. The park includes 31 lakes, including Lake Jeziorak, which is described here as Poland’s longest lake.

The medieval Church of Saints Peter and Paul stands in Dobrzyki. Its brick-built chancel was constructed around 1320–1340; the nave was subsequently built in two construction phases.
