The Market Square and townscape

Remnants of 19th-century small-town wooden architecture have been preserved on the Market Square. Most of the houses face the street with their gable ends; some have arcaded porches. These details give the square its own historic character and make the buildings’ orientation a distinctive feature of the townscape.

Concerts, fairs, sales and charity bazaars, market fairs and sporting events are held in the same square. A complex on Parkowa Street

The manor house and park complex on Parkowa Street brings together structures from several centuries. The manor house dates from the first half of the 18th century, and the granary known as Skarbiec dates from around the middle of the 16th century. There is also an entrance gate from the first half of the 19th century and a landscaped park with a pond from the 18th century. The different periods of construction make it easier to read the site as a complex that developed over time, rather than as a structure from just one era.

Today, the Zespół Szkół w Czudcu school is located on the grounds. This present-day use is as much a part of finding your way around the site as the historical descriptions of its buildings and park.

Churches, museum and local history

The parish Church of the Holy Trinity is a Baroque church from the 18th century. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Czudec is also Baroque, with a richly decorated interior. It houses the venerated image of Our Lady of Mercy, also known as the Czudecka. The crypts of a church in Czudec are often called “Mały Wawel” (“Little Wawel”). The architecture, the sacred image and the local name for the crypts offer different ways to explore the town’s religious and cultural history.

Another highlight is the Museum of Tradition and History, located in the cellars of the former synagogue. Its exhibitions cover the history of the Czudec community and its material and spiritual culture. A municipal trail description from 2013 takes the red Dębowa Trail past the historic Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity and the Market Square. It ends on Parkowa Street beside the Uznański Manor House. The black Czudec–Brzeżanka hiking trail starts in Czudec, is 24 kilometres long and is described as taking about eight hours to walk. While the Dębowa Trail provides orientation through named stops in the town, the length of the black hiking trail offers a clear guide for planning your time.
