Rafters’ houses dating from the 19th century have been preserved around the Rynek and on Sandomierska, Tanewska, 3-Maja and Św. Trójcy streets. These locations show that traces of rafting can be found not only in a collection, but are also part of the townscape. The tradition has gained further recognition through its inclusion on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In December 2022, a delegation of rafters from Ulanów received a certificate to mark this.

Local rafters offer tourist trips on traditional Galar boats on the San throughout the summer season. This adds an experience on the river to the preserved houses and museum exhibits. The Muzeum Rzeźby Andrzeja Pityńskiego offers a different perspective: it displays bronze miniatures of sculptures, commemorative medals, artworks, charcoal drawings and the sculptor’s personal mementos. This allows you to distinguish between the history of rafting and a broad insight into Pityński’s artistic work. A prior arrangement may be required to visit the museum.

The parish church of St John the Baptist and St Barbara was built in 1643. Its construction date offers another historical point of reference in the town, without reducing its different cultural themes to a single story. Visitors interested in Ulanów can therefore choose their own focus: rafting, sculpture or the history of the parish church.
