Clearly visible remains of former mills have been preserved at several points along the Głęboki stream in Zatwarnica. The scattered traces make former milling at more than one point along the stream part of the local landscape. The “Hylaty” Nature and History Trail

The “Hylaty” Nature and History Trail is the main feature of the “W Krainie Bojków” Ecomuseum. It runs from Zatwarnica to the 1,004-metre summit of Dwernik Kamień, is twelve kilometres long and is marked in green. Its length, trail markers and summit destination are practical points of reference when deciding what to focus on during a tour as part of your travel plans.

The remains of a former mill in Zatwarnica are also along the way: the trail passes them. In this way, “Hylaty” connects nature and history not just in its name, but also through a historic stop along the route. Chata Bojkowska is the starting point of the ecomuseum. The reconstructed dwelling draws on the traditional architectural style of this Carpathian region and has been adapted as a local education and cultural centre.

The regional history room in Zatwarnica focuses on the history and events of the surrounding area, legends passed down through generations, and the surrounding natural environment. The oldest exhibits are several hundred years old. These stories and historic objects complement the nature and history themes you encounter along the trail.

The former village cemetery commemorates another chapter in the history of the place. Several generations of Boiko villagers rest there alongside Polish militiamen who lost their lives in 1946. A simple memorial marks their burial place. The cemetery and the history room offer different perspectives on the region’s past: remembrance of the dead at the former, and history, legends and nature at the latter.
