Sanctuary and Art History
The brick church was built in the Baroque style in 1740; the sanctuary was established on 7 July 1968. These dates mark different stages in the history of the sacred building. Its furnishings also bring together notable details from different periods and art styles.
A Baroque pulpit with a Rococo sounding board dates from the late 17th century. The historic baptismal font is shaped like a boat and bears a sculpture of the Christ Child. It is also accompanied by a cross from the mid-18th century. The font’s shape, figures and dating make it a detail worth taking a closer look at among the church’s furnishings.
The main altar contains a copy of the image of Our Lady of Bieszczady from Rudki. The original was stolen in 1992. The history of the image and its present-day copy are closely connected with the sanctuary, while the pulpit and baptismal font are further, distinct elements of the church’s furnishings.
Compare Hiking Trails and Walking Times
The yellow hiking trail starts at the PKP-PKS station, passes through the town and by the stadium, then climbs to the summit of Gromadzyń, which is 654 metres high. From the Równia ridge, the route continues to Jasień and then passes back through the town to the station. This makes it easy to trace the yellow trail by its waypoints: the station, town, stadium, summit and return via Jasień.
The blue hiking trail also starts at the PKP-PKS station and heads towards Brzegi Dolne. It climbs the steep slope of Kinia towards the 618-metre-high summit of Orlik. Before reaching the summit, the route turns towards Jasień and leads to the yellow hiking trail. The approximate walking times, without breaks, differ: about two hours for the yellow trail and about 1.5 hours for the blue trail. Check local conditions before setting out.
Historic Trails in the Wider Travel Area
The Trail of Fortifications and Monuments of the Past also includes monuments at the church in Jasień. In the wider travel area, it is the first section of a larger project in the municipality of Ustrzyki Dolne. The trail includes First and Second World War trenches on four hills around Ustrzyki Dolne: Kamienna Laworta, Mały Król, Gromadzyń and Orlik. This makes it possible to distinguish the monuments at the church in Jasień from the trail’s wider-ranging sites, which relate to the hills around Ustrzyki Dolne.
