Nature

The village of Goleniowy is characterized by extensive meadows crossed by small streams. The meadows contain peat deposits; springs known as Kagan Duży, Średni and Mały are also found here.

Location

Goleniowy is located in the Polish Silesian Voivodeship, in Zawiercie County and in the municipality of Szczekociny.

The village lies in the eastern part of the Niecka Nidziańska geomorphological region at an elevation of approximately 310 meters above sea level.

Culture

The parish church houses a Gothic wooden sculpture of the Madonna and Child dating from around the middle of the 15th century. The Baroque furnishings include a main altar from the early 18th century and a baptismal font from the 17th century.

A cast-iron cross beside the road between Goleniowy and Przybyszów marks the grave of Captain Aleksander Edelstein and of insurgents from the January Uprising who died on December 4, 1863, in the Battle of Sprowa.

Cycling

A route listed as a road cycling route follows the Goleniowy–Drużykowa–Mekarzów–Goleniowy circuit and is 21 km long.
