Wodzisław: Nature, pilgrimage sites and mining history

Churches, chapels and Silesian pilgrimage sites

Kalwaria Pszowska offers insight into religious art and architecture: the complex includes a church and fourteen Neo-Baroque chapels depicting the Stations of the Cross. The Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located in the sanctuary in Pszów. Another chapel with its own history is the wooden Rosary Chapel in Buków: it dates from 1770 and is on the Silesian Wooden Architecture Trail. Mining history and active excursions

In Wodzisław Śląski, the Górnicza Sztolnia Ćwiczebna recalls the city’s mining traditions. This unusual local museum features approximately 500 metres of underground mine workings, with mining machinery and other mining equipment. It invites visitors to experience the atmosphere of a real mine. The approximate length of the mine workings and the preserved equipment make this a special opportunity to explore mining.

Another testament to mining history is the Wieża Widokowa Jan in Pszów. The former winding tower stands on the site of the former Anna mine; its highest viewing platform is more than 23 metres high. The Rodzinny Park Rozrywki „Trzy Wzgórza“ complements these destinations with opportunities for exercise. The 24-hectare site includes dozens of facilities. The monthly events in Turza Śląska may also be relevant to your travel plans: in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, nights of penance and atonement are held on the night of the 29th to the 30th of every month.
