Luzino offers plenty of ways to spend your days outdoors and explore local history: on the Ścieżka Zdrowia, you can choose walking and running trails among pine and beech trees; the arboretum is home to rare trees and shrubs, while historic buildings in the village tell stories of times gone by. When looking for a suitable holiday apartment, you can consider which of these interests you would like to focus on during your stay.

Walking trails and exercise on the Ścieżka Zdrowia

The entrance to the Ścieżka Zdrowia is on ul. Wilczka; there is a public car park right next to it. The site has a 1.9-kilometre pine trail and a 3.4-kilometre beech trail for walking and running. Several pieces of equipment for general exercise round out the facilities. The two trails differ in length and in the types of trees they are named for.

An observation point is located along the Ścieżka Zdrowia, two kilometres from the entrance. From there, you can see across Charwatynia as far as Strzebielino. This gives you a specific destination to include in your time on the trail. The trail lengths and the observation point offer different ways to plan your day.

Arboretum: rare trees and shrubs

The arboretum in Luzino showcases more than 140 species and varieties of rare trees and shrubs. Admission is free. The grounds include paths, lawns and benches, as well as a shelter and a prepared fire pit. You can plan your visit around viewing the trees and shrubs and spending time on the paths and in the open areas. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider the arboretum as a nature-focused destination in its own right; its variety of plants makes this outing different from the walking and running trails.

Local history and regional collections

The early medieval hillfort site, dating from the 9th century, is on ul. Długa, beyond the footbridge over the Bolszewka River. The church of św. Wawrzyńca combines a building date with older furnishings: it dates from 1740, has a Baroque entrance gate and Baroque furnishings. Its oldest feature is a medieval stone holy water font from the previous wooden church. These details make the church interesting to visitors who want to explore different layers of local history.

The present-day Gminna Biblioteka Publiczna im. Leona Roppla is also part of Luzino’s architectural history: it is housed in a former Protestant church that was used from 1895 to 1945. The Izba Regionalna exhibits cultural artefacts relating to the region’s history, archaeology, ethnography and art. Its collections include a material and spiritual collection as well as a forestry and natural history collection; agricultural machinery is displayed outdoors. The Izba Regionalna is open every Wednesday from 10:00 to 18:00.

A place for a quieter break

In the centre of Luzino, Park im. prof. Gerarda Labudy has a pond, a fountain, walking paths and a playground. It offers a different kind of visit from the longer trails of the Ścieżka Zdrowia. Families can take the playground into account; the pond, fountain and paths are other features of the park. The excursions you choose to focus on may also influence your choice of a holiday apartment in Luzino.
