Fishing Port on the Łupawa

Rowy’s fishing port lies at the river mouth. The town’s history is closely linked to fishing: Rowy has a long tradition as a fishing village and was first mentioned as a fishing port in 1282. The port and river give the town a specific historical connection that differs from the nature experiences found along the trails. Kayakers can use the waterway on the Łupawa. Rowy, at the river mouth, is also a starting point for exploring the river as part of the local landscape.

Coastal Cycle Route and Circular Trails

If you enjoy cycling, you can consider the international R-10 “Nadmorski” Coastal Cycle Route. It runs for 38 kilometres through the Ustka commune and reaches Rowy on its eastern boundary with the Smołdzino commune. The route gives the town a place on a longer coastal cycling route; it offers a different way to explore the area from a walking trail.

The 17-kilometre Rowy–Dołgie Małe–Rowy circular trail passes through forest complexes in Słowiński National Park to Lake Dołgie Małe. From there, it runs through wooded dunes to the sea and then back to Rowy parallel to the coast. The succession of forest, lake, dunes and coast makes the route a distinctive nature experience. Another named route is the 20-kilometre trail between Rowy and Przewłoka, called the “Szlak Zwiniętych Torów.” With these different route lengths, you can weigh up when planning your holiday whether you prefer a circular tour through several types of landscape or a connection between two places.

Beach Nature at the Museum

The branch of the Słowiński National Park Museum in Rowy presents the exhibition “Plaża – cztery pory roku” (“Beach – Four Seasons”). It explores changes in the coastal sandy area and the beach’s biological diversity over the course of the year, particularly the changing birdlife. This shifts the focus not only to the coast as a landscape, but also to its seasonal changes. For visitors who enjoy looking more closely at nature, a museum visit complements what they see outdoors with a subject that changes with the seasons. The branch has been partially adapted for people with mobility impairments.

Church and Preserved Lifesaving Station

A striking building in Rowy is the Neo-Romanesque church. It was built between 1844 and 1849 from dressed glacial granite stones. Its façade also features a “black stone,” which is associated with a weather legend: if it gets wet, a storm is said to be on the way. This story adds a local detail to the way the church is viewed without overshadowing its historic architectural character.

Behind the coastal dune stands a lifesaving station that has been preserved to this day: a house bearing a Maltese cross, owned by the Maritime Office. Together, the church and lifesaving station represent two distinct architectural and historical points of interest in Rowy.
