Church history and a manor house
The former Protestant church in Czarna Dąbrówka was built in 1935–1936 and consecrated on 6 January 1947. After its consecration, it was used as a branch church of the Kozin parish. The construction period, consecration and subsequent church function offer several points of reference for the town’s history: the building was constructed before the Second World War, consecrated in 1947, and subsequently served as a branch church of the Kozin parish.
A manor house at 31 Bytowska Street is listed in the registers of historic monuments. It is built of brick and designed in the Eclectic style. Together with the history of the former church, the manor house offers a second perspective on the town’s architectural heritage—with specific details about its material and style. This brings two distinct buildings and their respective historical connections into focus, without requiring you to choose just one perspective on the town’s history.
Hiking trails and paths in the town
Two PTTK hiking trails offer different options for planning your route: the 67-kilometre “Dolina Łupawy” trail ends in Czarna Dąbrówka; the “Krajobrazów młodoglacjalnych” trail passes through the town. The first is a longer route with Czarna Dąbrówka as its endpoint, while the second runs through the town. Check the local trail markings before setting out. A footpath and cycle path also runs through the grounds of the health centre.
Another route option can be found in Rokity, in the municipality of Czarna Dąbrówka: the “Przyjaciel lasu” nature and recreation trail lies in the forests managed by the Cewice Forest District. The trail includes two forest lakes and three routes. They are 1,000 and 1,200 metres long, and approximately 1,700 metres long. These details make it possible to compare the routes without specifying walking times; when planning your day, you can start by considering their different lengths.
The trail also covers topics beyond route lengths. Information boards address nesting boxes, aquatic ecosystems and the role of water in the forest. Other topics include the life cycle and layers of the forest, small mammals, forest fruits, protected plants, waste decomposition and the daily lives of birds. Educational games teach visitors to identify trees, birds and mushrooms. This gives “Przyjaciel lasu” a particular focus on forest knowledge and nature observation, unlike the two PTTK trails, which are described here mainly by their routes or endpoints.
Kayaking destinations in the municipality
For a trip on the water, another destination is Łupawsko. Kayak trips on the Łupawa usually start at the kayak launch in Łupawsko, on the lake’s left bank. A 2022 description mentions a kayak launch in Łupawsko on Lake Jasień, with a floating dock and a slipway for launching kayaks. When planning, it is also important to distinguish between the launch site and your choice of route: the section of the Łupawa between Kozin and Damno Młyn is recommended for experienced kayakers only. Kozin is near Czarna Dąbrówka. Check current local water conditions before paddling.
Whether you are more interested in architectural heritage, a hiking trail through the town, forest topics in Rokity or a kayaking trip, the destinations mentioned offer different points of interest.
