Discover Ciemno: Lakeshores, trails and Kashubian village character
Accommodation in Ciemno
Ciemno combines the character of an old Kashubian village with a landscape shaped by lakes, shorelines and the Kamienica gorge. There is an information board at Lake Spore. The “Jezioro Spore w Ciemnie” trail continues through Ciemno to Lake Kamieniczno. There you’ll find a sandy beach and a kayak launching point; a nature trail also runs along the shore. The mix of village history, trails and water makes the area interesting for a range of outings. If you’re looking for a holiday apartment in Ciemno, you can start by considering whether you’d like to focus your stay on walks, the lakeshore or the landscape and village character.
At Lake Spore: landscaped grounds and orientation
In 2023, three sets of benches with tables, an educational table with benches and a bicycle rack were installed on the grounds at Lake Spore. A modular waste bin, paved areas and green plantings were also added. The completed work therefore includes both seating and landscaped areas by the lake. There is an information board at Lake Spore; check its condition when you arrive. If you’d like to get to know Ciemno through its lakeside and recreational areas too, you’ll find some specific ideas here to help plan your outing.
Hiking from the village to Lake Kamieniczno
The “Jezioro Spore w Ciemnie” trail is about four kilometres long and is estimated to take around an hour and a half. The trail description, published in 2014, leads from Tuchomie through Ciemno to Lake Kamieniczno. There, the route connects with a nature trail along the shore. This makes it possible to view the outing as a hike with an approximate distance and a named connection at the lakeshore. The two sections offer different perspectives: the marked trail goes through Ciemno to the lake, while the nature trail runs along the shore. For current planning, check the route and trail markers on site; the description and estimated time date from 2014.
Lakeside experiences and a cycling route
On the shore of Lake Kamieniczno in Ciemno, there is a sandy beach and a kayak launching point. A kayak pier and kayak racks have also been installed in the lakeside recreation area. This adds a different perspective on the lake to the hiking route: here, the shore and kayaking are the focus of the outing. The “Ścieżka 13 Sołectw” cycling route also passes through Ciemno. The recreation and sports facilities at Lake Kamieniczno are listed as a place to stop along the route. This brings together different kinds of outings: a named hiking trail, a lakeside area with a beach and kayak facilities, and a cycling route through the village. You can use these differences to choose what to focus on during your stay, without having to follow a set itinerary.
Kashubian village character and landscape
Ciemno is an old Kashubian village. Its landscape features include the gorge of the Kamienica River; a former mill is also associated with the village. The mill adds a historical connection to the natural setting, while the gorge is a striking feature of the landscape. The impressions of Ciemno therefore range from the lakeshore and trails to village history and the river landscape. If you’re looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider the character of the village alongside your planned activities: would you like your stay to focus mainly on the water, a hike or Kashubian village history as well?
