Discover Niewodnica Kościelna
Accommodation in Niewodnica Kościelna
Niewodnica Kościelna brings together two different travel interests: the blue Włókniarzy Trail, which passes through the village, and an architectural history that includes a parish church, gates, a rectory and an inn. The route places the village within a longer trail, while the buildings offer a different way to explore its history. Depending on whether you would rather include a longer route in your plans or focus on historic architecture, Niewodnica Kościelna will have a different focus for your trip.

The blue Włókniarzy Trail
The blue Włókniarzy Trail is 75 kilometres long and passes through Niewodnica Kościelna. The 75 kilometres refer to the trail’s total length; its passage through the village is part of a larger route. This makes it possible to see Niewodnica as one part of a longer journey, rather than just a single stop. Check the current condition of the trail before setting out. For travellers who like to include a route in their plans, it provides a concrete starting point.
Church, gates and rectory
The parish church complex of Saint Anthony includes a brick parish church, built between 1884 and 1889. The complex also includes a brick main gate and two brick side gates in the boundary wall; all three gates were built after 1895. This makes it possible to distinguish the dates of the church and the gates: the church came first, and the gates followed later. The boundary wall and its different gates form a distinct part of the complex alongside the church building.
Another brick building in the complex is the rectory, dating from 1927. With its construction, the sequence of buildings extends into the 20th century. The church, boundary wall and rectory can therefore be considered as different components, each with its own chronology. Looking at their construction dates makes it possible to follow the complex’s development over several decades, rather than assigning all the buildings a single construction date.
Earlier connections and further architectural history
A much earlier connection to church history dates back to 1596: Andrzej and Elzbieta Koryccy jointly endowed the church of Niewodnica in the immediate vicinity of the manor house. This foundation is a separate point of reference alongside the later construction dates of the Saint Anthony parish church complex. While 1596 marks the joint endowment of the church of Niewodnica, the years 1884 to 1889 date the construction of the parish church dedicated to Saint Anthony. This keeps the earlier foundation distinct from the specific construction phase of the Saint Anthony church.
The village’s architectural history also includes a brick inn from the early 19th century. Alongside the religious buildings, it brings a different type of building into view and predates the Saint Anthony church, built in the 1880s. For anyone interested in exploring local history beyond religious architecture, the inn adds to the range of historic buildings mentioned here.
If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Niewodnica Kościelna, thinking about the purpose of your trip can help you decide whether the village is right for you: would you like to include the Włókniarzy Trail in a longer route, or is architectural history your main interest? These are two different focuses to consider when deciding whether the village suits your travel plans. If both appeal to you, you can see the trail as the broader theme and the historic buildings as local history.
