Warsaw between history, parks and the Vistula
Accommodation in Warsaw
Warsaw offers different sides to a city break: the historic centre, royal residences, museums and gardens sit alongside experiences by the Vistula. Families can choose between historical insights, longer walks and outdoor activities. When looking for a holiday apartment, it is therefore worth first considering which of these interests should shape your stay.

The Old Town and royal history
The Historic Centre of Warsaw lies within the medieval city walls and on the Vistula escarpment. The Royal Route is a sightseeing route connecting royal residences. Its stops include the Royal Castle, Royal Łazienki Park and Wilanów Palace. These historic destinations give the trip a clear cultural focus; you can explore them whether you are most interested in residences, parks or the city’s history.
For another perspective on history, the Warsaw Rising Museum offers an interactive exploration of the largest underground combat operation in German-occupied Europe during the Second World War. Its multimedia exhibition covers the military history of the 63 days of fighting, as well as civilian life and post-war communist terror. The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews presents its historical journey through eight thematic galleries. The exhibition experience includes ancient objects, paintings, interactive displays, reconstructions and video projections.
Gardens and experiences for different days
Royal Łazienki Park is a large garden for long walks amid nature and architecture. Its grounds include an Orangery, an amphitheatre and a court theatre. A visit combines exercise in green surroundings with a range of architectural impressions. The gardens of Wilanów Palace offer another way to spend time outdoors: they are suitable for walking, running and family visits.
The Chopin benches also combine city walks with music. They mark places where the composer lived or performed and play excerpts from his music. If you would rather plan an outdoor experience at a specific time of year, the Multimedia Fountain Park at the foot of the Old Town puts on light, sound and water shows from May to the end of September.
The Vistula riverfront and outdoor activities
A promenade several kilometres long runs along the Vistula riverfront in the city centre. You can explore the Vistula boulevards by bike; Warsaw also has long cycling paths and running routes. Visitors can rent paddleboards and kayaks at a marina near the Vistula Landing Point. This means riverside options range from exercise along the waterfront path to activities on the river.
At Poniatówka Beach, visitors can use free deckchairs in summer, play volleyball and table tennis, and use an outdoor gym. Families with children will find a range of activities here; those looking for a quieter focus can put the gardens or museums at the centre of their stay. The Warszawskie Linie Turystyczne offer a way to discover Warsaw, its monuments and places of interest; their season begins on 1 May.
When choosing a holiday apartment, these different interests can help you decide: should the trip focus mainly on museums and city history, visits to gardens or time by the Vistula? Choosing the right experiences helps tailor your stay in Warsaw to the interests of your travel group.
