Village history and early traces
Horoszki Małe is home to an early medieval hillfort. It represents a period considerably earlier than the written or cartographic records of the village. Horoszki Małe existed as an independent village by the beginning of the 19th century at the latest and appears on an Austrian map from 1801–1804.

Another distinctive feature is a protected small-leaved lime tree, botanically known as Tilia cordata. Its trunk circumference is 123 cm, and it is 24 m tall. The tree stands on the Bonin–Horoszki Mała road, next to the property of P. Wedziuk. For nature enthusiasts, this lime tree adds a protected natural feature, with a clearly specified location and distinctive form, to the area’s historical attractions.
School, village life and places of remembrance
On the outskirts of Horoszki Małe, a brick primary school building with a teacher’s residence was built in the middle of a pine forest in 1957–1958. The building tells of a specific use of the site in the 20th century. It was sold to a private owner in 2006 for tourism and commercial use. At the time of publication, its façade bore the sign “Zajazd Leśny”.
Alongside the former primary school building, which was called “Zajazd Leśny” at the time of publication, unknown Russian soldiers from the Second World War are buried in the forest on the Konstantynów–Sarnaki road. Another place of remembrance in the village is a low, blue-painted wooden cross from 1949, surrounded by a wooden fence.
The community activities of the past also offer insight into village life. The school held sports competitions as well as handball and football matches for neighbouring schools and rural youth. In the 1960s, Horoszki Małe had Scout groups. Bonfires, bivouacs and sledging outings were often held, with residents taking part. Later, from 1976 to 2000, training camps in pre-military defence for secondary school students were held at the former school site.
If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Horoszki Małe, the local traces of history may play a part in choosing your holiday destination. The place may particularly suit your interests if you would like to explore village history, an early medieval hillfort and specific places of remembrance.
