Architecture and Church History

Krzywa Hala is in the “Bloki” district. The distinctive building was constructed in 1942–1943 to a design by German architects, on a long, gently curved ground plan. Its listed status, construction date and unusual shape make it a good starting point if you are interested in the architectural history of Ciechanów.

The history of the Gothic church also goes back a long way: a Gothic church was built in the mid-14th century by Duke Siemowit and his wife Eufemia for the Augustinians brought to Ciechanów. At the time, it was dedicated to Saint Martin. Today, it is dedicated to the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and serves as the parish church of Saint Tekla. Museums, Science and Railways

The Muzeum Szlachty Mazowieckiej in Ciechanów holds collections relating to the history of the Ciechanów region. The park is located at the foot of a distinctive torus-shaped water balancing tank, built in the 1970s. This brings together a science-focused offering and a striking architectural form.

The Budynek Kolei Nadwiślańskiej houses a historical railway exhibition and the municipal tourist information office. You can find another railway attraction at the junction of ul. Fabryczna and ul. Sienkiewicza: a locomotive stands there with an information board about the history of the narrow-gauge railway. A section of track, paths, benches and rubbish bins have also been installed. The exhibition inside the building and the locomotive with its information board each highlight a different aspect of railway history.

Green Spaces and Water

The Green Maze is on Skwer 4 czerwca 1989 roku, on ul. Fabryczna in Ciechanów. It is open to visitors and has winding, triangular paths that are one metre wide.

For plans by the water, a cycle path leads from the centre of Ciechanów to Kąpielisko Krubin, where there is a station for the municipal bike-sharing scheme. The bathing area has a sandy beach and a designated swimming area. Water sports are also available, as well as kayak and pedal boat hire. Swimming facilities and seasonal services may change, so check the current situation before making firm plans to visit.
