A rectangular market square, a Late Gothic church and cycling routes with very different profiles give Kąty Wrocławskie a varied character. Here, you can discover the town’s history while also exploring routes to suit different plans for the day. For families who enjoy getting out and about together, the contrast between the Szlak Bobra, described as easy, and the more challenging Szlak Bielika is particularly interesting.

Townscape and architectural history

Eight streets branch off from the rectangular market square. The street layout, green spaces and green corridors also preserve the original regular plan of the built-up area within the former walls and moat. Several features of the present-day townscape therefore reveal its earlier urban structure.

The Late Gothic parish church of St Peter and Paul defines the skyline of Kąty Wrocławskie. It is a Gothic church dating from the 15th century. Its distinctive architectural features include a polygonal-ended presbytery and an octagonal tower. The town hall provides a different architectural accent, with its Neo-Romanesque forms. Those interested in historic architecture can thus see a range of features in the townscape rather than encountering just one architectural style.

One of the two special routes established in cooperation between the Kąty Wrocławskie municipality and Footsteps is the Zabytki Kątów Wrocławskich sightseeing route. It highlights the town’s attractions. The Regional Memory Chamber also offers relevant insights for anyone wishing to learn more about the town and municipality: its collection includes documents, photographs, archaeological finds, books and other objects.

Cycling routes for different day plans

The blue-marked Szlak Bobra runs from Kąty Wrocławskie through Jurczyce, Romnów, Małkowice, Sadowice, Sadkówek and Sośnica, before returning to Kąty Wrocławskie. The route is 16 km long and takes about two hours. It is considered easy and suitable for cycling with children. This can help when choosing a route together: the stated distance and approximate duration provide a concrete framework for planning the day.

The green-marked Szlak Bielika is described as a longer, more challenging alternative. It runs from Kąty Wrocławskie through Sośnica, Krobielowice, Zachowice, Czerńczyce and Kamionna, before returning to the starting point. At 23 km, with an approximate duration of three hours, it differs from the Szlak Bobra in both length and character. Both routes return to Kąty Wrocławskie, so you can plan your outing by considering the length and stated difficulty of each route.

Beyond these two loop routes, there are also cycling connections to various destinations. EuroVelo 9, the Amber Route, passes through Kąty Wrocławskie. From here, the R9 cycling route runs via Małkowice to Wrocław Muchobór Wielki. A green cycling route connects Kąty Wrocławskie with Leśnica in Wrocław, Mrozów, Środa Śląska, Lubiąż and Wołów. Another route description gives a 74-km route that starts in Kąty Wrocławskie, goes around a reservoir and passes through scenic areas of the Bystrzyca Valley. In addition to the shorter loop routes described, there are therefore longer cycling routes and connections to other places to choose from.

Nature and planning your visit

The Bystrzyca Valley Landscape Park includes Kąty Wrocławskie. The valley is also part of the described 74-km cycling route. If you’d like to combine cycling and sightseeing during your stay, you can take these different interests into account when choosing a holiday rental in Kąty Wrocławskie, without limiting your day to just one way of exploring the area.

The listed opening hours are especially useful when planning a visit to the Regional Memory Chamber: it is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 08:00 to 16:00, Thursdays from 12:00 to 18:00, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00. The collection and sightseeing route offer a way to explore local history, while the market square, church and town hall showcase the town’s architectural features. This makes it easy to plan your stay around your interests in local history, architecture or cycling routes.
