Landscape

Nowa Morawa is a village in the municipality of Stronie ÅšlÄ…skie near the Czech border.

The settlement lies in a narrow, deeply incised valley in the upper reaches of the Morawka, at approximately 600 to 680 metres above sea level.

The valley separates the Bialskie Mountains from the Śnieżnik Massif. Spruce-dominated mountain forests surround the settlement; at the same time, it lies on the boundary of the Śnieżnicki Landscape Park, while the valley floor is characterised primarily by meadows.

Local Character

Historically, difficult agricultural conditions led the inhabitants to turn to forestry and crafts. Wood processing was a notable local activity, and a sawmill is recorded in the village for the year 1684.
