Międzylesie – City Panorama and Architectural History

Międzylesie combines panoramic views of the city with architectural history spanning several centuries. At the Kolejowa viewpoint near the railway station, the panorama extends to the southern ridge of the Śnieżnik Massif, which runs along the border. Different historical styles meet in the city: a sculptural group from 1719, a Baroque-rebuilt church with surviving Gothic details, and weavers’ houses from the late 18th century. Near the railway station stands a stone sculptural group dating from 1719. It depicts the Holy Trinity and the Coronation of Mary. Together with the church, it shows how the town’s history can be explored not only through major buildings, but also through individual works of art.

A votive column topped with a figure of Mary stands in the market square. Its religious subject distinguishes it from the architectural details found on the church, town hall, and houses. The weavers’ houses built in the late 18th century are called “Siedmiu Braci” (“Seven Brothers”). The group comprises timber and brick buildings with arcades; two buildings have survived. Stone and timber, brick and arcades add another dimension to the town’s history alongside its religious buildings.

The Neo-Gothic town hall dates from 1881 and serves as the seat of the town and municipal office. It stands next to the church.
