Brzyna is therefore the starting point for the shorter route, while the longer one passes through the village. The six-kilometre difference and the different starting points make it easier to compare the routes when planning, without treating them as identical: both end in Jazowsko, but they have different intermediate stops.
Lemiesz and the history of the mountain route
A defensive castle stood in Brzyna in the 13th century. At that time, the defensive castle of Lemiesz stood above the hamlet of Misiołówka, at the confluence of the Dunajec and the Obidza stream. It made it difficult to break through the Radziejowa Ridge from the south and secured the descent into the Jazowska Valley. It also guarded a mountain trade route from Hungary to Poland.
