In Bad Rabka, Zdrojowy Park shapes the centre of Rabka-Zdrój: themed gardens, recreational facilities and paths come together across 30 hectares. There is also an open-air inhalatorium, hiking routes and cultural discoveries. When choosing where to stay, consider whether you would prefer to focus on nature and activity, relaxation in the park, or history and regional culture.

Zdrojowy Park: Gardens and Activities

The western part of Zdrojowy Park is home to ten themed gardens. These include a rose garden, a rock garden, a garden for climbing plants and a heather garden. The variety of garden styles also makes the park interesting for visitors who want to explore plants and landscaped settings. Rather than visiting just one feature, you can enjoy these areas as different highlights of a visit to the park.

The park also offers a health trail, an outdoor gym, a beach volleyball court, tennis courts and children's playgrounds. Families travelling with children will find designated play areas in addition to the gardens. For a more active stay, the sports facilities and health trail take centre stage. The Rabczańskie Bulwary nad Poniczanką add to the options with a pedestrian promenade and a cycle path.

Hikes of Different Lengths

The marked hiking trail network includes a 2.4-kilometre route through Zdrojowy Park and a 4.8-kilometre route from the park to Góra Krzywoń. The shorter route stays within the park; the longer one leads from the park to another destination. The distances can help you choose a hike.

The leisure trails start in Zdrojowy Park, at the junction of Orkana and Chopina streets in the centre of Rabka-Zdrój. If you are looking for a longer hiking option, you could also consider the Główny Szlak Beskidzki: it is 519 kilometres long and passes near Rabka-Zdrój. From Rabka, the trail leads to Turbacz, the highest peak in the Gorce Mountains at 1,310 metres. This gives you a choice between short local routes and a trail that forms part of a much longer route.

Views and the Brine Inhalatorium

The observation tower on Królewska Góra is over 25 metres high. From here, panoramic views stretch across the Gorce, Beskid Wyspowy, Babia Góra and the Tatras. You can reach the tower via the blue trail from Kościuszki Street, heading towards the pass between Bania and Grzebień. The viewpoint and trail can therefore be combined as the focus of an outing.

The Tężnia Solankowa, an open-air inhalatorium, is located at the edge of Zdrojowy Park. To use it, walk around the column while breathing in the brine aerosol. This offers a different way to spend time around the park from hiking or taking part in sports. Along with the promenades and garden areas, the Tężnia adds to the options for days when activity and spending time outdoors are a priority.

Regional History and Traditions

The Władysław Orkan Museum is housed in the bell tower of a listed larch-wood church dating from 1606. Its exhibitions present the tangible and intangible heritage of the Podhalans, Zagórzanie, Kliszczacy, Babiogórals and White Gorals. The museum also displays gusle, a Fujara postna and a Trembita from the Podhale microregion. These instruments provide concrete examples of musical traditions and add another dimension to the exploration of regional culture.

Another cultural event is the Easter Palm Competition, held every year in Rabka-Zdrój on Palm Sunday and described as one of the oldest competitions of its kind in Poland. Easter stalls are also set up. If you are interested in local customs, you can include this recurring event as a cultural highlight when planning your trip.

Choosing Bad Rabka as a Holiday Destination

If you are travelling with children, you may want to consider the playgrounds and the Leśna Educational Trail in particular. The trail offers active recreation and nature education for children and young people. For a trip focused more on culture, the museum and Easter Palm Competition offer different points of interest.
