Zelków lies on the southern edge of the Olkusz Upland between the Kluczwody and Bolechowicka valleys, at an average elevation of around 400 meters.

The historic village center includes a karst pond that served as a local water and social center for centuries.

History

Zelków was first recorded in 1402. Historical remnants include former sites of boundary markers at the exits of the Zelkowski Gorge and the Kluczwody Valley.

A roadside chapel stands at the eastern entrance to the village from the Kluczwody Valley. A memorial commemorates residents who were deported to Germany for forced labor between 1939 and 1945.

Cuisine

A goat farm in Zelków produces seasonal cheeses exclusively from the milk of its own goats. The farm belongs to the European Network of Regional Culinary Heritage.
