Babice brings together two themes to consider when planning a trip: the long architectural and artistic history of All Saints’ Church and named routes with different route details. This gives you the chance to consider whether culture or exploring the routes should shape your stay more. It is also a helpful starting point when looking for a holiday apartment in Babice: first, consider which of these aspects of the place interests you more.

All Saints’ Church: History and Building Phases

The parish of Babice was first mentioned in 1337; All Saints’ Church is first documented in 1470. Around 1524, Bishop Jan Konarski endowed a new church. The present-day masonry church was built in 1763 after a fire. These dates trace different milestones in the local church’s history—from the parish’s first mention and the endowment of a new church to the construction of the present masonry building.

Between 1891 and 1898, the church was substantially extended. The nave was lengthened and two chapels were added, creating a kind of transept. Those interested in architecture will find concrete evidence here of how the building changed over time. The exterior also features a Baroque bell tower: it is built of masonry and has two storeys. The church’s interior furnishings are Baroque and Rococo, so its architectural history and varied styles shape Babice’s cultural character.

The furnishings also include several details of art-historical interest. One side altar contains paintings of the Immaculate Conception and the Guardian Angel by Wojciech Eljasz, who also created the Stations of the Cross. The furnishings include a Baroque baptismal font from the second half of the 18th century. The parish house of the church contains fragments of an early Baroque altarpiece created by Mikołaj Przybysławowicz of Kraków in 1662. A look at All Saints’ thus spans the building’s development as well as individual works and furnishings.

Two Routes with Different Points of Reference

The Kraków–Moravia–Vienna Greenways route is marked in Babice at route kilometre 14.7 as a blue Greenways cycling route. The green Lipowiec Route also runs through Babice. Along the stated route, the school at ul. Parkowa is 0.7 km from Lipowiec Castle. The details highlight different aspects: for the Greenways route, its designation as a cycling route and the route kilometre are specified; for the Lipowiec Route, the focus is on its course through Babice and the distance along the route.

This helps you assess the routes according to your interests: one is explicitly designated as a cycling route, while the other is a green route that runs through Babice. Together with the church’s history, they offer a choice between exploring culture in greater depth and planning a trip more around routes. You can weigh each detail individually rather than treating them as a fixed itinerary.

Shape Your Stay Around Your Own Interests

When looking for a holiday apartment in Babice, consider whether you would like to focus mainly on the history and art of All Saints’ or include the named routes in your plans. For culture enthusiasts, the church offers a thread connecting historical dates, extensions and works of art. Those more interested in routes can use the different descriptions of the blue Greenways cycling route and the green Lipowiec Route to guide their own planning. If both themes appeal to you, they can shape your stay in different ways without needing to be combined into a prescribed route.
