Inowrocław combines the expansive Solankowy Park with healing waters, a long history of salt production and remarkable ecclesiastical art. For planning your trip, this means you can spend your days in the spa area differently from a visit focused on medieval buildings and regional traditions. What matters most to you may also influence your choice of holiday apartment in the city.

Solankowy Park and the spa area

Solankowy Park covers about 85 hectares. The Solankowe Trasy Rekreacyjne in the park offer excellent conditions for cycling and Nordic walking. If you enjoy being active, this gives you a specific reason to set aside time for the park; the activities mentioned appeal both to those who want to get around by bike and to those who prefer Nordic walking. The park’s size makes it a destination in its own right, without requiring you to plan your entire stay around it.

The spa area is in the west of Inowrocław. Solankowy Park is home to spa facilities, a graduation tower, a drinking hall and thermal baths. The observation terrace at the Tężnia Solankowa offers another view of the park: from there, you can see Solankowy Park and parts of the city. This lets you combine a city view with a visit to the spa area, while the park’s paths offer an active alternative for the day.

At the Pijalnia Wód – Palmiarnia “Inowrocławska,” you can sample the mineral water “Inowrocławianka” and the healing water “Jadwiga.” The complex also includes a palm house and a Kujawska cottage. This brings together a variety of experiences: sampling two named waters, as well as visiting a palm house and the cottage. If you want to include both the spa atmosphere and cultural discoveries in your trip, you can take both interests into account when choosing your accommodation.

Romanesque and medieval traces

The Basilica of the Holy Name of Mary is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th or 13th century. Inside are a wooden Madonna and Child from the 14th century, as well as unique medieval sculptures and carvings on stone blocks. This brings together the architecture of the church and art-historical details: in addition to the Madonna, you can also look out for the sculptures and the carved stone surfaces.

Another church shapes the cityscape with a striking feature of its own: the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary has a 77-metre-high tower and a unique mosaic in the presbytery. Anyone interested in sacred architecture can explore different design features: here, a Romanesque building with its medieval works; there, the tall tower and mosaic. Inowrocław is also on the Piast Trail, placing the city’s historical connections within a wider travel context.

Salt production in Kujawy also has a place of its own in Inowrocław. The Permanent Exhibition of Salt Mining presents its history in ten exhibition rooms, from antiquity to the final days of the salt mine in Inowrocław. The permanent exhibition on salt mining is housed in the city theatre in the town centre. A visit can therefore offer a different focus from the park and churches: instead of architecture or activity, it centres on the history of a regionally important industry.

Another cultural discovery is rooted in the Szymborze district. There, the folk tradition of the Przywołówki, organised by the Klub Kawalerów, has been preserved. Szymborze was a village until 1934. This local history and the surviving tradition offer a distinct way to discover local culture, away from the churches and the salt exhibition.

The city offers a range of ways to explore it, without requiring you to limit yourself to just one kind of experience.

Other local pages in the wider area: Hohensalza, Gniewkowo, Kruszwica, Tupadły and Pakość.
