Sławica: Forests, Lakes and Trails

Sławica lies between forests and lakes on the edge of the “Puszcza Zielonka” Landscape Park. The village brings together this landscape, trails that pass through Sławica, and recreation areas where lakes and allotment gardens are part of the local scenery. This offers several starting points for planning your trip: you can focus on cycling or hiking, explore the surrounding nature, or go fishing at Jezioro Borowe.

Cycling Tours and Hiking Trails

The 51.8-kilometre Duży Pierścień Rowerowy runs through Sławica. If you want to explore the area by bike, it provides a direct link within the Puszcza Zielonka cycling network. The route’s length helps you get your bearings as you plan your trip; how much of it you cover is up to you and your schedule.

A blue hiking trail also passes through the village. It is 37.4 kilometres long and runs from Dziewicza Góra to Sława Wlkp. This makes it possible to consider Sławica as part of a longer hiking route. The two routes offer different ways to explore the area: a cycling loop through the region or a marked hiking trail between its named starting and end points.

The connections within the cycling network may also be of interest to visitors travelling from further afield. The network of the Puszcza Zielonka and its surroundings is connected to the Poznań–Wągrowiec railway line, car parks, the Pierścień Rowerowy wokół Poznania, and the European long-distance cycle routes EuroVelo 2 and 9. These connections make it easier to reach and leave the cycling routes of the Puszcza Zielonka. They also give cycle tourists additional guidance when choosing how to travel to the area and fitting Sławica into a longer tour.

Recreation Areas and Lakes

A hiking trail through Sławica’s recreation areas passes holiday homes and the “Zacisze” allotment gardens before reaching the built-up part of the village. Another trail through these recreation areas also passes Jezioro Borowe. So a stay here is not just about the longer routes: the trails through the recreation areas and the various landmarks along them also shape the character of the village.

Jezioro Gackie is nearby. The 29-hectare lake can be seen from the route beyond the “Zacisze” allotment gardens in Sławica. Recreation plots belonging to the village of Sławica lie along its eastern shore. Jezioro Gackie is located in the buffer zone of the “Puszcza Zielonka” Landscape Park and is used extensively for recreation. This adds a specific nearby location to the lake landscape without suggesting that it is the same lake as Jezioro Borowe.

Fishing and Activities in the Village

Fishing is possible at Jezioro Borowe after obtaining the required permit; the water is managed by the PZW. The lake has also hosted fishing competitions: one event saw junior anglers compete for the trophy of Alojzy Pacholski, honorary chairman of the fishing club. The following day, 21 adult anglers, including one woman, competed at Jezioro Borowe for the trophy of Zbigniew Kujawa, chairman of the Skoki Municipal Council.

On 15 April, an organised Nordic walking outing followed a 7.5-kilometre route through Sławica’s forests and recreation areas. This is one example of a group activity in the local landscape, alongside cycling and hiking. Sławica also has a football pitch and a playground. Families can plan their stay around a range of interests without limiting all their activities to just one way of enjoying the outdoors.
