The Piast Route in miniature and living history

The Skansen Miniatur Szlaku Piastowskiego was established in 1998. It displays around 35 models, mainly of buildings along the Piast Route. They are made to a scale of 1:20: the miniature representations bring different buildings together as the focus of a visit and offer a vivid introduction to the history of the route. The skansen also holds living history lessons. Topics range from the everyday life of the first Piasts to Slavic beliefs and facts about the Piast Route. Get hands-on at Gród Pobiedziska

At Gród Pobiedziska, the focus is on trying things out. Visitors can operate a ten-metre-high trebuchet themselves. You can also try archery and throwing spears and axes. These activities provide a practical complement to the historical themes at the skansen: instead of looking at buildings in miniature, the focus here is on historical equipment and getting involved.

The gród also has a medieval playground with a carousel powered by people. You can therefore choose between several activities when planning your day: the trebuchet, the throwing and archery activities, or the playground. These are different activities; you can decide which ones will interest your travel group based on their preferences.

Market square, church and water activities

The market square also offers striking sights: there is a fountain depicting Lech, Czech and Rus. One of the most interesting monuments to the Greater Poland Uprising in Greater Poland is located on the same square. Pobiedziska is also home to the Church of St Michael the Archangel, which dates back to the Gothic period. These places each have a different focus—from the figures at the fountain to the monument and the Gothic church.

For an active day on the water, the “Puszcza Zielonka” kayak trail begins in Pobiedziska at Lake Biezdruchowo. It is about 11.3 kilometres long. If you’d like to include a kayaking trip in your plans, this is a specific place to start. There is also a seasonally open bathing beach at Lake Biezdruchowo. The kayak trail and the beach cater to different interests in the water; bear in mind that the beach is seasonal.
