Church art at St. Lawrence

The Parish Church of St. Lawrence is listed in the heritage register under number KI.IV – 73/98/54; the entry is dated 12 June 1954. Its Baroque furnishings include two side altars from the 18th century, decorated with Ionic columns and figures of saints. The high altar is also Baroque and dates from the first half of the 18th century. Its upper section contains a Late Renaissance painting of the Holy Family from the first half of the 17th century.

The furnishings thus bring together different visual worlds and periods: the Baroque design of the high altar sits alongside a painting from an earlier era. The subjects also offer different ways to appreciate the church. The ceiling features two illusionistic Baroque paintings depicting the Holy Trinity and the Madonna and Child.
