At SOWA in Jarocin, the exhibition features 15 exhibits from various fields of science. The concept focuses on learning through independent exploration, discovery and experimentation. Those wishing to include a route can choose between two distinctly different options. The red route is a 30.2-kilometre loop that begins and ends at Jarocin railway station. The green route runs for 24.5 kilometres from the station to Śmiełów and passes, among other places, Radoliński Palace. The routes differ both in length and in whether they return to the starting point. Bear both factors in mind when planning your day, rather than choosing a route based on its colour alone. The station is the start and end point of the red route; Śmiełów is the destination of the green route.
The railway station itself is also notable: it is considered the oldest surviving junction station of its type in Greater Poland.
Palace, city history and festival tradition
Radoliński Palace was built from 1847 to 1853 to designs by Friedrich August Stüler. The permanent exhibition at the Regional Museum in Jarocin covers the history of the city and the Jarocin region from 1793 to 1989. A separate section is devoted to the palace and the Radoliński family. Architectural history and regional history thus offer distinct perspectives: the palace is a specific building, while the exhibition spans a broader period.
The former Protestant Church of St George is another part of the area’s architectural history. It was built in 1847–1848 and extensively restored and remodelled in the Neo-Romanesque style in 1894.
Jarocin’s festival history can be explored through various places of remembrance. The Glan monument commemorates the city’s festival tradition. The “Jarocin Festiwal krok po kroku” trail leads to places associated with the history of the Jarocin festivals and evokes their former atmosphere. This offers a different perspective on the city from the one provided by the palace and museum: it focuses on the memory and history of festivals, not on a current events programme.
Park and other places to explore
Jarocin Park is home to the Parkowy Odkrywca ecological educational trail, where visitors can learn about some of the park’s most impressive or valuable trees. Skarbczyk, a surviving part of the former residence of Jarocin’s owners, is also located in the town park by the pond. Both are in the park but tell different stories: the trail focuses on trees, while Skarbczyk reflects the site’s earlier history.
Other specific attractions include a high ropes course next to the amphitheatre in Radoliński Park, a skate park on Św. Ducha Street behind the car park, and a pump track on Aleja Światowego Dnia Roweru. The directions provided for the pump track place it beyond the S11 overpass when coming from Maratońska Street.
