Cross-country skiing with practical points of reference

A family-friendly trail is about two kilometres long, lit, and centrally located in Kvinlog. It is near a petrol station and a grocery store. Its length, lighting, and location in the village give you several points of reference for planning your day; its family-friendly design is especially suited to families who want to include cross-country skiing in their stay.

The trail network in Kvinlog extends for about five kilometres; a municipal planning decision from 2025 gives this approximate length. Kvinlog is one of four places in Kvinesdal municipality where cross-country ski trails are groomed. For current grooming updates, check with the local club.

A trail for year-round activities

A new trail designed for year-round use opened in Kvinlog in October 2024. It is centrally located next to the school and multipurpose hall and was adapted for children of all ages. Its asphalt surface is intended to enable activities throughout the year. Alongside the cross-country ski trails, this provides a facility with a different, explicitly year-round purpose.

Motorsport in historical context

Kvinlog-Banen was built in Nedre Kvinlaug in 1988, when the area belonged to Fjotland municipality. The 2025 summer racing regulations specify a 680-metre track at Nedre Kvinlaug Motorstadion, with a surface comprising 60 percent gravel and 40 percent asphalt. These track details may change if the facility is modified. The proportions of the two surfaces give a concrete impression of the described track profile, while the year it was built places the village’s motorsport history in time.

The wider Kvinesdal destination offers additional excursions and cultural experiences. KVINAbadet is centrally located in Kvinesdal town centre. It has a 25-metre sports pool, a therapy pool with a water temperature of 34 degrees, and a paddling pool for the youngest visitors. If you plan to visit, check the opening hours in advance.

The Fjordsyn day cabin is on Dyreknuden and offers views over the Fedafjord. Its main access route is a hiking trail from the car park at Sande friluftsområde. Road and parking conditions may change, so check them before setting out. At the 42-metre-high Rafossen, north of Kvinesdal town centre, there is a footbridge across the waterfall and a salmon observatory in the power station. Access to operational areas with a guide requires prior arrangement.

In Feda, also part of the wider Kvinesdal destination, visitors can experience the traditional cooperage craft of “bøkring” at Bøkkerbua during the summer season, as it was practised about 100 years ago. Canoes can also be rented there. A small swimming spot is located by the river beside Bøkkerbua; swimming conditions depend on the weather. The seasonal craft experience and weather-dependent swimming spot therefore offer a different focus from cross-country skiing and motorsport in Kvinlog.
