For geographical orientation: Bjugn, formerly Botngård, lies at the end of the Bjugn Fjord in the southwest of the Fosen Peninsula. Nearby, Tønnølsfjellet offers views of the open sea and Nes. The mountain reaches an elevation of 374 metres, making it a specific destination for anyone who wants to include viewpoints in a hiking trip.

To hike to Tønnølsfjellet, drive from Botngård along Rv 721 towards Oksvoll. After about three kilometres, turn onto the signposted road to Nes. The directions provide a named landmark to guide you there, while the elevation and views describe the character of the destination.

Another hiking option is Gapahuk Kamhaugen. From the car park at Botngård Vel, the trail continues for about one kilometre. At the summit, there is a shelter and a fire pit; from there, the view stretches across the Bjugn Fjord to Hitra and Frøya. If you are looking for a trail considered easy and child-friendly, this walk may be worth considering. The views and facilities at the summit also give the outing a destination of its own.

Activities in Sports Halls

Fosenhallen offers a different kind of leisure activity. A go-kart track is set up there from May to August. There are eight electric go-karts, with four driving at a time. During the winter season, you can also rent a curling rink at Fosenhallen, with or without an instructor; the hall also offers ice-skating activities. The periods mentioned differ: the go-kart track is available from May to August, while curling is available during the winter season.

For wheeled sports, there is a skatepark in the schoolyard of Botngård barne- og ungdomsskole. Activities with skateboards, kick scooters and other wheeled sports equipment are possible there. The different options offer a variety of activities, from ice skating and curling to wheeled sports at the skatepark and go-karting at Fosenhallen.

Bjugnhallen in Bjugn is suitable for fairs, social gatherings, celebrations and kick-offs. It is another event venue, with a different focus from the leisure activities at Fosenhallen.
