Hyggen is a small fjord village in the municipality of Asker. Coastal paths with different routes, a swimming area in the centre, Skipperstua by the beach and products from Hyggen Gård offer various starting points for planning your trip. When choosing a location, consider whether you mainly want to spend time by the water, explore routes along the coast, learn about local history or enjoy regional apple products.

Coastal paths with different routes

The circular route “Asker along the coast – Stage 1: Spikkestad to Hyggen” follows a coastal path that is well marked in blue. It runs from Jonsbubukta via Fagervika and Helgåsen to the centre of Hyggen. The tunnel to the old Dynokaia is closed off.

Another circular route starts in the centre of Hyggen. It first follows the coastal path to Kinnartangen, then goes via Helgåsen to Fagervika and onwards to Jonsbubukta. The path to Jonsbubukta is marked in blue. The routes therefore differ in how they relate to the centre: the first route ends there, while the second starts in Hyggen.

North of Hyggen, along the coastal path, is Fagervik badeplass, a small sandy beach. Together with the long beach at Hyggen swimming area, this offers a clear comparison: a small beach along the coastal path north of the village or a long sandy beach within the centre.

Swimming area and history by the beach

Hyggen swimming area is sheltered in a large bay. Its described features include a long sandy beach, large willows and grey alders, and toilet facilities. Beach conditions and facilities may change; check the current situation before your visit.

Skipperstua also stands by the beach and may be the oldest house in Hyggen. The restored building is located where it was originally built. Thus, both the house itself and its original location are part of local history.

Apple products from Hyggen Gård

HYGGEN Eplemost is made from apples grown in Hyggen Gård’s own orchard by the Drammensfjord. The farm shop sells freshly picked apples in season and HYGGEN Eplemost all year round. The different sales periods are useful to keep in mind when planning: fresh apples are a seasonal offering, while Eplemost is sold year-round. If you would like to visit the farm shop, check its current opening arrangements in advance.

If you want the coastal paths, swimming area, Skipperstua or apple products described here to shape your stay, you can choose Hyggen specifically as the location for your holiday apartment search. This lets you base your choice of location on the things that interest you there.
